No dia 01 de maio de 2003 sofri um acidente com choque elétrico de alta tensão em 12.000 Volts! Foi assim: era o feriado do dia dos trabalhadores aqui no Brasil e então estávamos no meio da construção de um muro de arrimo nos fundos do quintal aqui de casa quando decidimos, eu e o meu primo que era o pedreiro, continuar mesmo no feriado pois o serviço já estava quase acabando. Em um descuido, peguei uma viga de ferro pronta em cima da laje para levar para o fundo do quintal e deixar lá, mas a minha laje era pequena, 8 de frente por 4 de fundos e a viga era de 12 metros de comprimento o que não cabia na laje e colocamos ela na diagonal. Quando fomos retirá-la de cima da laje precisei jogar para fora da rua e depois jogar para os fundos, mas… como estávamos no terreiro andar então era a mesma altura que os fios de alta tensão passava, lego, por um descuido, esbarramos na alta tensão. Após isso fui levado ao hospital onde fui submetido a cirurgia para amputação de ambas as mãos e metade dos antebraços a altura da parte de baixo dos cotovelos.

“On May 1, 2003 I suffered an accident with a high voltage electrical shock at 12,000 Volts! It was the workers’ day holiday here in Brazil and so we were in the middle of building a retaining wall in the backyard here at home when we decided, me and my cousin who was the bricklayer, to continue even on the holiday because the service was almost over. In an oversight, I took an iron beam ready on top of the slab to take it to the back of the yard and leave it there, but my slab was small, 8 front by 4 back and the beam was 12 meters long, which it didn’t fit on the slab and we placed it diagonally. When we went to remove it from the top of the slab I had to throw it out of the street and then throw it to the back, but… as we were on the terreiro floor so it was the same height that the high voltage wires passed, lego, by an oversight, we run into high voltage. After that I was taken to the hospital where I underwent surgery for amputation of both hands and half of my forearms at the height of the lower part of the elbows.
